Sorry Again for the lack of update from two weeks ago. Mom always told me if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all so I refrained from commenting on this site.

The new set up we worked on at the practice session was AWESOME. It took some tweaking and a little different driving style but we really like the way the car responded.

We had a sold 8th place finish in the bag when the red 76 decided to move me out of the way and take the front-end out of the car. As forest Gump would say "that's all I have to say about that!!!"

Last week 8/9/2008

So we fixed the car and went out and had an Awesome run in the heat race finishing 2nd in my heat race with some quality cars finishing behind me. It was a great run until after the race I went to slow down. I ran the full length of the heat without touching the brakes. Well it turned out the brake rotor broke off of the axel and ruined the axel meaning the rear needed to be replaced. Well I had a rear in the car but it did not have any hardware on it so we started "thrashing" on it. We got it done but only in the nick of time.

It turned out that I got out on the track to late and I lost my 6th place starting spot and went to last. Well with a lot of aggression built up I made my way to 18th when the car just went away. I was no longer moving forward when the half way flag was shown. I then decided to do what I thought was a safe move and decided to pull in for the night and call it quits and keep the car in one piece. Our motor was getting close to needing a rebuild and I wanted to keep as many laps off of it as possible.

That was when BAD luck kicked in. Colby got into the inside guardrail coming out of two and lost steering in his race car and as I was just about to exit the track he hit me full throttle. Absolutely destroying both cars. Mr. Frontz told me that it may have been a good thing that he hit me because he was pointing right for the exit into the pits and he may have gone right into the pits and who knows what might have happened then!!!!! End result we lost the chassis it broke our second rear for the night and may have damaged the motor. It shoved the driveline forward so hard it destroyed everything!

So that leads me into the future of Berkes Racing. We are definitely done for the remainder of the 2008 season and we are unsure what the future holds. The cost of racing has gotten to the point that I do not know if I will be able to do it at the level that I feel I would like to. Like most other small business owners I am struggling with the slowing economy, taking away the profits and expenses skyrocketing.

I would like to thank Cole's Hardware, Sign and Print, Leisure Line Stoves for there Support.

I truly hope things turn around and I can figure out a way to get back out but I just don't know! Nyle 99B
